About

Caroline aged 5 wanted to be a pop star or a ballerina. Here I am, some years later, a Shiatsu practitioner enjoying enormous job satisfaction with none of the pressures of a celebrity status my earlier career prospects may have entailed.

Life has strange twists and turns and I happened to follow an interesting sign that said ‘Shiatsu’.  Knowing nothing beside the fact it is a body work system that you can keep your clothes on for, I signed up for a 6 week course at the Mary Ward centre in London in 1994. The beautiful Maria Serrano introduced us to the idea of energy moving through the body in pathways called meridians and once I felt the presence of that energy with my own hands, I was hooked.

It took a further three years of study at the British School of Shiatsu- do in London to qualify as a shiatsu practitioner in 1998 and I can honestly say these were some of the happiest years of my life. I have run a busy practice at yogahome in Stoke Newington ever since.

I also have experience in a range of other settings such as HIV clinics in High Barnet and Hammersmith.

My previous work as an Early Years teacher nurtured a strong link with schools in North London. I set up a successful project working with children diagnosed with ADHD and their families at Hargrave Park Primary school. At Archway Children’s Centre I ran a course for parents teaching basic Shiatsu techniques to use at home called Shiatsu for the Family. I ran a popular clinic at Frank Barnes School for deaf children in Camden. Here, I visited weekly to give treatments to staff working in the school for many years.

I still enjoy working in London as well as from home in St Leonards-on- Sea.

Over the years, as part of my professional development I have attended a range of workshops with the following teachers- Bill Palmer, Sonia Moriceau, Suzanne Yates and Dan Stretton. Currently I am studying Shiatsu Shin Tai, an extension of shiatsu work, with Saul Goodman.
